Research Project Consent This auction site, which is a free service to subscribers, is designed and maintained by Professor Peter T.L. Popkowski Leszczyc of the marketing department at the University of Alberta. The auction site is created for academic purposes to collect data on bidding behaviour in auctions. This consent form is only part of the process of informed consent. It should give you an idea of what the research is about and what your participation will involve. You may ask questions about the research at any point in time and obtain written results regarding any research from this research project. This website has been created to study bidding behaviour in auctions. We are interested in studying the effectiveness of different characteristics of the auction, such as the usage and level of reserve prices, usage and level of buy now prices, and the duration of auctions. As well as studying which types of products are most effectively sold through auctions, as a single product or as a package (e.g. a bundle of goods). For more information on my research intrests, please visit my website (see research intrests and publications and working papers). This research project has received Human Research Ethics approval at the University of Alberta. Funding for this research has been provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the University of Alberta, Central Research Fund and the School of Business Faculty Fellowship. By signing up I understand that data about my bidding behaviour may be collected for research purposes. All data obtained will be treated as strictly confidential and not used for any purpose other than academic research. All participants' responses will be treated as anonymous for the purpose of data analysis. You will be assigned a unique ID number and all of your data will be submitted under this ID. The ID protects your identity, but allows us to group together the data you send us at various times over the course of the experiment. We may publish reports based on this data in the future, but any personally identifying details will be removed. Please note that you are free to withdraw your membership (including the removal of any of your data) of CampusAuctionMarket.com at any point in time, by e-mailing the researchers at: campusauctionmarket@ualberta.ca. Your continued participation should be informed as your initial consent, so you should feel free to ask for clarification or new information throughout your participation. If you have further questions concerning this website or the related research, please contact Dr. Peter T.L. Popkowski Leszczyc (492-1866). If you have questions concerning your rights as a research participant, please phone the School of Business Research Ethics Board (492-8443), or email researchethicsboard@exchange.bus.ualberta.ca.
